It was a really nice day out today. Glad i went out.

I had a good time hill climbing. So much fun. Im really impressed with what the surf can do, but then again, i have nothing to compare it to as its my first 4x4. I defiantly need some better tires is the first thing i learnt. Second thing i learnt is ALWAYS LOOK WHERE YOUR ABOUT TO GO. When there is a ridge, and you dont know whats on the other side, get out and do a walk threw. I had a close call at the beginning of the day, but smartened up after that Wink

I did get stuck at the end of the day.

Let just say im starting to like DRY hill climbing alot more then mud. It gets so messy, and having to get UNDER the truck to hook up the recovery strap just sucks.

After the day was all done, i did notice i have something "klunking" by my right rear wheel. It just makes a nice big klunk when i turn right every 5th or 6th time. It sounds like something is releasing and hitting the frame. Next day off ill have to take a look.

Had a good time though, would defiantly want to go out with a few other Toyota guys and maybe learn a few things.

So question guys. After a dip like that (probably stuck in there for about 5-7 minutes) , what should i be doing? I looked underneath, water was half way up the differential, so i dont think i got any water in there. What about the wheel bearings? Should those be opened up and looked at? (cleaned out and repacked? ) I think im gonna have to fit some diffy breathers this week just to be safe for next time.

agreed. I submerged my 4runner in its IFS glory many many times repeatedly. I never once opened up the front bearings to repack them and even after 50,000km's with continuous pummling of mud and water the wheel bearings still looked goood up front when i cut the ifs off.

Definately extend the breathers though.

good to hear. I will rip apart my front and rear ends right away here to check everthing anyways (bearings, seals, calipers, pads, rotors, brake hoses, shoes, drums) but just wanted to know for future reference if i ever get into that situation again (trust me, i will) Smile
