do i require the factory valve and necessary components for safety on my 81 toy? the guy who previously had this truck had taken the second brake line out running to the back, and has removed the other junk too.

probably not.... just make sure its either all there or all gone.. if its not working than i am sure you will have to get it replaced or repaired under a safety where as if its not there and no trace of it then theres no problem to be had..

they are completely useless anyways.. i had one on my first minitruck and when it decided to start to sieze up i cut the rod and tied it to a few diferent positions to see what effects on braking it had... it was very little difference in any position.. i am sure its the kind of thing where you would notice more if you had a load on the back...
