One last point to reinforce about 12-24 converters.
As pointed out, they WILL kill your battery in a short time. I installed thousands of units in all kinds of equipment and trucks, and if left for a week, even batteries in a D8 Cat can be stone dead!

To keep things like radio presets on a deck, you can install a small "alarm panel battery" underdash diode protected on the memory wire of the stereo, and have the converter turn on with the key. It will charge when the truck is running, and keep your memory for a LONG time when shut off, and your batteries will stay fresh for the next start.

This won't be a daily driver, so I'm not even certain I will be concerned with a 12v memory. I do like the idea of a small, 3rd 12v battery though. I'll cross that bridge when I get there I guess.

I sent a message to Mike Gozzard today to get my tub ordered. Hopefully prices haven't gone up too much since last summer.....

Any votes on color? I'm thinking I will either go with a 1981 factory option; leaning towards olive green, or a charcoal/slate grey, similar to the Icon. Thoughts????

found another '81 24v BJ42 that I may buy also......

looks complete with a 1st gen half Aqualu tub. Maybe it would be a better platform to start with. Not sure yet. Biggest problem is it's in Kelowna Sad

I've got a friend out there that has room on his driveway for a few months, so who knows!!

here's a link to some pics of the one I bought last year, not the one for sale;

Obviously won't be for a while yet, but there will be some steel parts that could be salvageable; parts of the floor pans, firewall, etc. I will post these for sale when the time comes, just something to keep in mind Smile

Thanks for the offer! But a buddy if mine lives only 7k from it. Already checked it out. Looks, sounds ok to us. Might be silly and pull the trigger! Very Happy

I now own 3 Cruisers Very Happy

My buddy in Kelowna seems kinda interested in the latest one, so the deal is if I don't get out there to pick it up by August 1st, he's gonna buy it off me.

If I do manage to get it here, I haven't decided yet if I will part it out or, re-sell it. I don't think it would take much to have it looking fairly sharp and a good buy for someone. That being said, I kinda want a spare 3B, and I sure am eying up the factory alternator/vacuum pump Cool

Newest Cruiser in Kelowna

Here's the one I bought last summer

Biggest reason I bought this one is for the doors; excellent shape compared to almost everything else I've seen out there....

No progress yet, still don't have the new tub. Patiently waiting... Cool

thinking colours again. Any thoughts on going black with the hardtop? Specifically the lid, but maybe the whole top. Dunno, just thinking out loud at this point....

leaning towards paint code 653; olive green. There seems to be some variation in the actual colour, from a nice green to a baby-poop green. lol

I don't really care for this;

but I like this; more of a brown tho I suppose

thoughts??

And another thing; do I paint the inside and underside of the tub the body colour or go black?
