Getting one shot of spark out of coil on a 84 Toy truck just when I shut the key off. Guy says he stalled it and it wouldnt restart. I put a newer style ignition box in (used), no change (or that ones fooked too.) I know this isnt rocket science, Im just missing something.Help! Embarassed

so you turn the motor over for a bit and when you let off the key you get a spark from the coil?

Getting power to coil but only one discharge. Checked pick up for resistance and gap.

it sounds like its grounding through the ignition switch, or maybe a bad ground...I would try hot wiring the coil, to separate the coil from the switch altogether, if it starts, switch is bad,
