Got pulled over tonight for a bumper check. Front was fine for the 29.5" but rear measured at 32". Brad whats the rear bumper call? I tried asking him about the reg that said rear needed to be a certain height, he just said it states bumper in general.

not for your truck. I would fight it. I will find the regulation.

its a 2500HD right? that should put you at a gvwr of 4500kg?

Bumpers
50(1) Every passenger car shall be equipped with front and rear bumpers and
every other type A vehicle with a GVWR of 4500 kilograms or less shall be equipped
with front bumpers that:
(a) are securely mounted to the frame or chassis;
(b) have a vertical surface of at least 100 millimetres; and
(c) extend at least to the width of the original manufacturer’s track width.
(2) On cars, the centre part of the bumper shall be between 380 and 560
millimetres above the ground when the vehicle is unloaded on level ground and
tires are inflated within the range specified by the tire manufacturer.
(3) On type A vehicles with GVWR of 4500 kilograms or less, other than cars, the
height of the lowest part of the bumper shall be not more than 750 millimetres
above the road surface.
4 Sep 87 cV-2.1 Reg 10 s50.

reading that further and looking through the regs, if you are over the 4500kg gvwr then there are NO restriction that I could find unless you are a bus.

When are bumpers required?
Section 50 of The Vehicle Equipment Regulations.
• Requires passenger cars to be equipped with front & rear bumpers. • Requires trucks less than 4500 GVWR to be equipped with front bumper only.

I read that as trucks over 4500kg don't need any bumpers and under need front only. And I would say that's true looking at some of the commercial stuff running around. Look at 5 ton flat decks, cement trucks etc. No bumper specs.

I cant remember, but is your truck the duramax with a cognito?

Cops have been cracking down pretty hard I think, I only have a 6" and 35s on my Dmax and I got an inspection ticket for lack of flares. Put flares on and got pulled over and was given a warning for lack of mud flaps.. Yeesh.

Im surprised at the trouble Ive been given, especially considering some of the huge trucks in town now. Theres 2 brand new dodges with monstrous kelderman air ride lifts on them, 12"+. I had the exactly same setup I have now on my old half ton and I wasent bothered once in the 2 years I ran it like that.

They wont be happy until we all drive Aveo's.
